In short: if you join the waitlist we keep your email address and use it to tell you about SSDT. We don't sell it, share it for advertising, or use cookies on this site. You can unsubscribe or ask us to delete it any time.

Who we are

Stuff School Didn't Teach ("SSDT", "we", "us") is a UK-based educational project. We decide how your data is used. Contact us at hello@ssdt.app.

What we collect

Your email address, if you join the waitlist.
Sign-up records kept by our email provider: when you signed up, when you confirmed, and the IP address used. This proves you agreed to join.
Where you came from: if you arrive through a link we've shared, such as one on TikTok or Instagram, we keep a short label like "tiktok" with your email address, so we know which channels are worth our time.
Email activity: whether you open or click our emails.
Basic site statistics: page views, the site you came from, country and device type. These are anonymous and can't be linked back to you.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

To email you about SSDT, including when it launches. Basis: your consent. You can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email.
To understand which pages work and improve the site. Basis: legitimate interests, kept to anonymous statistics.

Cookies

We don't set cookies on this site. Our analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) doesn't use cookies or track you across sites.

Who handles your data for us

Mailchimp (Intuit) stores the waitlist and sends our emails. It's based in the US, so your data may be transferred there under recognised safeguards.
Cloudflare provides the website analytics.
GitHub hosts this website.

We don't sell your data and we don't share it with advertisers.

How long we keep it

We keep your email until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. If you sign up but never click the confirmation link in the email we send, we don't email you anything else.

Age

The waitlist is for people aged 16 and over, and for parents and guardians. If you're under 16, please ask a parent or guardian to sign up with their own email address.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. Email hello@ssdt.app and we'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If this notice changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top.
